March 16 NJAWBO Essex Dinner Meeting: 
Everything Counts:
Follow a Proven Sales Process for Success
Featuring Linda Stillman, President and Co-Founder,
Business Training and Consulting Institute 

The next dinner meeting of the Essex Chapter of the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners (NJAWBO) will be held on Tuesday, March 16 between 6.00-9.00 P.M. at the Wilshire Grand Hotel, 350 Pleasant Valley Way, in West Orange. NJAWBO Essex provides a forum for networking, professional development, and education for women business owners.  The program’s topic is Everything Counts: Follow a Proven Sales Process for Success; and the guest speaker is Linda Stillman, President and Co-Founder, Business Training and Consulting Institute (BTC Institute).   

Linda, a Morris County resident, will guide participants through a sequence of examination followed by diagnosis during new prospect presentations that can lead to ease and success. She will explain the most effective way to ask questions to position the interview; how to create a rapport that leads to a relationship; and how to deliver a sales message with assurance. 

At BTC Institute, Linda Stillman and her partners focus on educating and mentoring corporate leaders and their teams about the mission-critical skills needed to achieve more success by enabling higher levels of performance. She has been featured on MSNBC’s “Your Business” program, and is personal counsel to numerous individual entrepreneurs and intra-preneurs in government agencies, academia and the private sector. She is NJAWBO’s 2009 Business Woman of the Year, and a past member of the Morris chapter board.

5th ANNUAL NJAWBO ESSEX DIVERSITY NETWORKING LUNCHEON ON MAY 11
TO BENEFIT SAFE HOUSE
Keynote Speaker: Deborah E. Collins, Esq.
Executive Director of the Essex County Economic Development Corporation

On Tuesday, May 11, the Essex Chapter of the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners (NJAWBO) is hosting the 5th annual NJAWBO Essex Diversity Networking Luncheon at the Highlawn Pavilion, Eagle Rock Reservation in West Orange, from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. The theme for this year’s event is Embracing Diversity and Empowering Women. The afternoon event will include exceptional networking, a buffet lunch, a mini expo, and a brief program. In addition to empowering business women with this event, NJAWBO Essex will be donating 10 percent of the ticket price to The Safe House, an Essex County haven for battered women and their children.

The NJAWBO Essex Diversity Networking Luncheon is expected to draw more than 200 business people from across Essex County and the surrounding areas. The event provides opportunities to gain insights from the guest speakers, meet prospective colleagues and clients through networking, enjoy delicious food, and learn about state and local businesses by visiting the expo tables. 

“This is our chapter’s signature event, and people from all over the state come to join us to celebrate and appreciate the diversity of people, thought, opinion and ways of doing business that we represent,” explains Angelica Aguirre, NJAWBO Essex VP of Diversity, who has primary responsibility for organizing the event, along with a committee of dedicated New Jersey businesswomen. “We are also thrilled to have the luncheon at the spectacular Highlawn Pavilion, so our attendees can make new connections and learn while they enjoy the beautiful views and elegant setting.” Angelica is the president of Monster INK, of Bloomfield, a firm offering customized apparel and specializing in apparel fundraising.

The luncheon’s keynote speaker is Deborah E. Collins, Esq., the Executive Director of the Essex County Economic Development Corporation and the Director of Small Business Development and Affirmative Action for the County of Essex. Her topic will be “The Roads Less Traveled,” (“with apologies to the descendants of Robert Frost” says Deborah). Deborah will discuss her journey through personal and professional challenges and opportunities leading to her current success.

A Glen Ridge resident, Deborah is an employment lawyer by background and training. Prior to her current position, she worked on Wall Street for ten years, and spent several years in private practice and in the General Counsel’s office of the New York City Transit Authority. She has extensive experience in the areas of affirmative action, diversity, and employment discrimination, and human resources in both the public and private sectors. Before earning her J.D. at Rutgers Law School in Newark, Deborah taught Spanish and Spanish Literature at colleges and universities throughout the tri-state area.  She also holds an M.A. in Spanish and Spanish American literature from NYU’s Graduate School of Arts and Science in Spain.
